The ex-Tory leader welcomed news that Canadian Conservative Stephen Harper has ended 12 years of Liberal rule... There were also parallels between outgoing Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and Gordon Brown, he said.

Yeah but over here you don't have to wait for a Tory government to get your schools privatised, your health system broken up, suffer an outburst of post-colonial jingoism and invade one of your old colonies, start buying a new nuclear deterrent AND of course start building new nuclear power stations the safety of which will (after lobbying by the nuclear industry) no longer be assessed by the public enquiries set up to consider the sites...
Wowser! - Slow old Canada - behind the times again!
